i’m based in nyc and have been studying tibetan buddhism! I think i am looking for something along the lines of a spiritual holiday (ie beautiful location, intentional) and I am looking to deepen my practice in meditation and a physical activity (yoga/surfing/etc). What was your first retreat like?

If you’re looking to stay on the east coast for that, omega and kripalu are great for what you’re looking for. They both have a range of activities that people can choose to do (eg spa, hiking, spiritual sessions, etc) and have a regular schedule of drop in classes. Highly recommend.

80% of the retreats I went to were vipassana meditation… folks followed a specific meditation schedule daily for 5-10 days on average. My first one was at Garrison with Jack Kornfield, a Buddhist teacher whose work I had been following. It was eye opening! I learned a lot. I also really loved the food 😂 people usually love the food at retreats.
